Hakka people are real Chinese, Cantonese now is considered as Vietnamese

Sorry to comment on a 4-yr-old clip, I just came across it today. Good content, good scenario, excellent approach...but ...way way too long cramming too many lines into 2 minutes, a beginner is not going to retain anything, in that respect it's not effective. Cut back to maximum 5 lines, still about 2 minutes, repeat the 5 lines a few of times at normal then slow then normal speed. Better to have many short videos, people learn and retain little by little, one long video full of materials is pretty much useless.

As a native canto speaker, I feel like you’ve to really concentrate in order to guess some of the words. Btw my granddad is Toisanese, while my maternal grandfather speaks Hakka, unfortunately I don’t speak these two dialects.

Yes, Cantonese is extremely difficult to learn. I lived in HK for 5 years. I went to Cantonese school 3x a week. The tonal structure is complex & difficult to comprehend. It takes many years of constant learning to really have a decent understanding of the language.

Never knew many Taishanese words sounded mixture of Cantonese, Hokkien and Hakka....LOL. Awesome I am able to understand most of what you said. I am from Singapore.

Ok Brittany, Hakka and guangdong is the same as Portuguese and Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian and Belarusian, Laos and Thai, German and Bavarian German. These are not dialects but I called family languages.

Awesome to hear another person speak my toishan!! I was born in SF,Ca in the 1950's, so my parents spoke it. I could speak toishan, but grew up at a young age to coummnacate to parents, while speaking English on the outside to others. I'm in my 60's now, and seldom use it, as my parents are gone, still able to speak it on a limited basis .

My parents are from Hoping and I speak Taishanese, but her dialect is a little difference from mine. However, I learned from other videos that there are 4 dialects of Taishanese.

My guesses as a native Cantonese speaker: 1)我鐘意食蝦餃？ XD 2) 你識唔識講客家話 (你曉唔曉得講客家話) 3）佢最鐘意咩顏色？係紅色 4) (喺條橋隨喺樖樹下便耍木) 5）有隻貓好仲意追老鼠、雀仔(鳥仔)同埋雀仔

My girlfriend speaks Taishanese with her family and especially her grandparents, I'd really like to make the effort to learn. Looking forward to more videos!

Hey I had a question, what accent were you speaking in? I have a hard time finding Taishanese literature that I can understand, and I don't know what accent I grew up with but however I understood yours with much clarity.
